Night flights to Malalwi suspended – Kenya Airways

Kenya Airways has announced it has suspended some services in Malawi including the night flights .

“Due to reasons beyond our control, we regret to advise that we have suspended all night flights until further notice. This affects KQ 734,  KQ732,” reads a notice by Ruth Maweu, Kenya airways Country Manager Malawi.

The Kenyan airways also announced it has indefinitely suspended air ticket sales coming soon after Ethiopian Airlines made a similar decision two weeks ago.

Malawians intending to travel by Kenya airways now have to book their ticket online and pay using credit card or travel to the nearest point of sale outside the country, according to a circular by the airline to all its country managers.

In a circular, the airline says air tickets can be sold from any other point of sale outside Malawi for travels starting in the country.

The airlines is failing to change the Malawi kwacha into foreign currency – a scarce commodity in the southern African nation.

The move by two airliners will greatly affect most travel agents and may lead to loss of business and subsequent job cuts, according to some travel agents.
