10 critical points Bushiri raised in Times TV exclusive interview

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri in an exclusive interview with Times Television underlined that he believes his extradition case will be a watershed on how Malawi citizens living in foreign countries will be treated and perceived and Nyasa Times has picked the 10 critical points he raised.

When a house is burning, and someone comes out of it, you don’t, at first, ask how that person got out. You safeguard that person first.

1-In 2018, before his arrest, he had complained to Malawi government with regards to human rights violations he was suffering in South Africa. He also raised similar concerns with human rights organisations in Malawi who took it up with South African High Commission in Malawi and also South Africa’s Human Rights Commission.

2-In the same year 2018, he complained before South African authorities—Police, Intelligence, Ministers—against three police officers from the Hawks who wanted to extort R10 million from him. He even open cases with the Independent Police department against such officers.

3-Instead of being investigated, the officers were left on the loose and, in retaliation and sheer cover up, the three officers arrested him in 2019 accusing him of buying a private jet using cash as part payment. Bushiri wondered why, if he broke the law, the three officers also arrested his wife but never arrested the white person who sold him the private jet.

4-After the arrest, Bushiri said he was given bail and attended every court session for three years without being tried because the State was still gathering evidence.

5-The three police officers, still failing to give him trial, continued to issue threats to him. They kept demanding money to withdraw his case or, if he was still not cooperating, he would be killed. Stuck to his guns, the three officers arrested him again in 2020 on fresh money laundering charges.

6-After being kept in prison for 11 days, and given poisoned food, he was released on bail and, part of the condition, was that he must be staying in one house so that he is easily monitored. During the same time, he had suffered a series of assassination attempts. He realised he was in deep danger and, again, he would never face fair trial as long as the three officers were handling his cases. He had to leave South Africa to preserve his life and seek justice in Malawi courts.

7-On how he got to Malawi, he said: “When a house is burning, and someone comes out of it, you don’t, at first, ask how that person got out. You safeguard that person first.”

8-He is not in Malawi to seek political intervention. He is in Malawi seeking to have his story heard by the country’s respected justice system.

9-He believes that doctors treat, and God heals. That is why, after praying for his sick child, he took the responsibility of sending her to the hospital. Further, he said he has never, even a single day, claimed that he has healed a person, or anointing oil or wrist bands heals people; rather, it’s God that heals people. He only prays for people and the anointing materials are only conduits of God’s power.

10-He said his case will be a watershed on how Malawi will be treated in foreign lands. He added he believes that there are so many Malawians in foreign land facing what he faced in South Africa.

  1. On your daughter i still believe the conduits to God shall have worked for her as was the case of the lady with one short hand whom u extended to be equal. Fake prophet of doom

  2. And maybe he needs to be reminded not all Malawians are con men and thieves in the foreign lands they live in to fear the justice system Only the wrong doers live in fear, i can think of more than his 10 points why he should face justice and his 7th must safe guard him instead of asking how he got out really he thinks everyone is a fool what is he hiding?
So called prophet and man of god first learn how to speak the truth and face the truth of your true self just another suited thief

  3. Bomboclaat. Birds of the same feathers, him, Hawks. Who else have you seen complaining like a drug dealer. Ma deal mbwee munthu wamulungu? So many business people, pastors, some reacher than he. Tsono Balotelli the question is why always you??? And why are you running oga? Matters of law end in a court of law, no amount of running will set you free.

  4. Why he has Not answered the Question No 7 Bushiri is Just Twisting if he is Really Man of God he should First Answer Question
As he is in Malawi at Present and He is Safe.and.Away from South Africa so the Examples give by Him is Rubbish and Just Talk Talk
He should First Clarify to Malawians How did he Arrive in Malawi
It seems MCP is playing a Big Conspiracy with Malawians

  5. If the points Prophet Shepard Bushiri raises are true, then the RSA needs to sweep it carpet clean first. Their justice system is a sham. Shame on them.

    1. Mhhh you start by saying “if” meaning these aren’t validated and conclude by saying our justice system is a sham. So what proof do you have of this sham of a justice system?

The same system gave these fugitives bail even when everyone could see he would make a run for it which he did.

  6. Where are those 10 critical points? Realy where are those 10 critical ponts? These are not 10 critical points pumba, these are the crimes the man in question has commited in our beautiful country, hope you push your agenda with a knowledgeable points not this brainwashing poor journalism you doing.

    1. My puzzlement exactly these are an attempt at PR.

People living in foreign countries do not complain about human rights issues to their home country,it doesn’t make sense.

What a waste of people’s time.

  7. Ngati ukuba dziko lake joni sungapeze mtendele baba. Kumeneko kuli similar simbi bwanji kuli ziiiìi iwe ndi okuba ndithu

  8. And the sad reality of this is people will still believe him! If he is truly a man of God then let God help him if he dammed by the hawks and justice system of South Africa! You know the saying if God is on your side then no power in this world will harm you! The same with David and goliath! Mosses and his staf! Did Jesus run away when he knew they were coming for him? So if he truly believes in the power of God then let God judge him and if he truly is a prophet then surely God will be on his side and he has nothing to fear! Oh how the mighty prophet of god fears three police officers!

  9. Don’t bring in Malawi into your dirt Mr bushiri. This is not about Malawi. Malawians have been living outside of their country before you were even born. In fact our passport ranking is on of the best in Africa, not requring visas in many countries. It’s the likes of you that will drop our ranking. Botswana Namibia already requires you to have a Visa and hopefully they’ll know that you’re the only crook among the many pastors that also go out of the country. You have spiced your story with lies, repeated lies with the hope that the judiciary buys it…Tough luck on that one. Just go and say those things to the South African court. You are wasting your time buying sympathy from people who have no say in the outcome of your trial.

  10. I’m guessing his innocent too right? Or did he forget to say that. This is a biased article from paid reporter. What a shame. Call a spade a spade. Bushiri is a thief and a fraudster. Let him go and answer for his crimes. Whether rich or poor. All those millions and he can’t hire top tier security? Malawians are indeed gullible.. too poor to question right or wrong. “The North Remembers”

  11. goverment must help us for not sent Bushiri here in south africa they will kill him please dont sent Bushiri to this satanic country

  12. for those of us who have once stayed in south africa, we know how deep rooted is injustice towards black foreign individuals. their courts are run by politicians and the few whites powerful individuals. if they want something from you, they will fight you knowingly that they are covered by courts. there is no justice for black people [even black citizens] ask malema, he is still paraded in courts for unexplainable journalists attack cases, jaccob zuma’s sun was arrested and rocked up for unexplainable capable homocide case. in short anyone who is not a friend to those who control courts is prone to such injustices

    1. Unexplained are you nuts? He before courts did say he crash his Porsche into a taxi carrying passengers but he had lost control of his car in west weather. So you say he had no case to answer?

My word what planet are you living in?

  13. There are so many foreigners in SA doing business there and haven’t been treated like this guy. There are so many Nigerians and Zimbabweans enjoying what SA has to offer. Even Strive Mayisiwa left Zimbabwe and was staying in South Africa. He never got mistreated. The reason is simple, he is an honest businessman not a conman.

  14. If only it was for the accused to campaign and prove his innocence our justice system wouldn’t have been there.

  15. But if it were in Malawi, you would see police saluting you. The security agencies in Malawi give hectic time to fellow Malawians whilst giving red carpet to even illegal foreiners .

  16. Its obvious someone who is quite higher up in the South African government is trying to extort Mr Bushiri for money. Perhaps this a crooked minister? There must be a thorough investigation and the persons responsible must be brought to justice. Otherwise, South Africa is a failed state.

  17. His 20th point hit home. Malawians are treated like ndowi in other countries. We may be considered poor due to a few corrupt and incompetent people, but we are smart and should start demanding better

  18. That’s true there is no fair Justice in South Africa especially when they’re dealing with an outside person

      1. Check mate, they won’t answer you.

The Bashiri’s came into SA illegally his sister admitted as such and entered into a plea bargain with the state after his brother left her behind.

All their illegal dealings were facilitated by corrupt government officials that deserve jail time.

    1. Mbavaatuuu, mukwrnyedwa kumeneee ma tricksters, enafe tuukhala bwaaa, tikudya burevosi bhobhooo, mbavva la 40 lakwanabaaasiii,

    2. Malawi is just the same. A mzungu was sent out the country for calling someone a monkey, yet foreign people regularly get racial abuse here. Population of foreigners in Malawi is about 1.2%. in S Africa it is 7.8%. Still, nothing compared to Europe where countries such as Switzerland have 30% foreigners living there. You think police in Malawi don’t target foreign people for bribes? Africa is pretty much the touchstone for tribalism and hatred of outsiders.

To me to this is exactly the same as could have happened here. A pastor, calling himself a prophet, squeezes money out of a population for his business interests and the police are jealous and want to get in on it. There are no innocent parties in this situation.

    3. Interesting comment. Are you talking from experience?

Did you have a run in with our laws and if so why did you even put yourself into such a compromising position?
