Mpico after ex-minister Mussa over rental default

One of the country’s property managers, Malawi Property Investment Co Ltd (MPICO), is after former Minister of Local government Henry Mussa for the K2 million rentals which he has not paid for the past months.

Mussa was staying in an apartment in Lilongwe which was being managed by Mpico and he has not been paying rent.

One of the officers at Mpico said Mussa’s non payment of the rentals dates back to the time before he was appointed the Minister of Local government.

Mussa: Mpico wants him to settle the bill

“He is a respected businessman and we had the belief that he was going to settle the rentals. However when we realised that he was reluctant to pay we decided to evict him. That was when he was appointed cabinet minister,” said the source.

He said government took over the payment of the rentals the time Mussa was a cabinet Minister, however there is still an outstanding bill in excess of K2 million which the minister is failing to settle.

“We will soon take him to court and where necessary move the court to declare him bankrupt,” he said.

Mussa own several business in Blantyre and Chiradzulu, the business empire include an insurance firm.
