Matabwa fired, Jana new CEO of Admarc
State grain marketer ADMARC boss Dr Charles Matabwa has been fired.
President Joyce Banda has since appointed economist and ex-diplomat Dr. Jerry Jana to head ADMARC – the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation.
Jana reported in office on Monday after Mataba was handed the letter terminating his services dated May 16 2012.
Admarc board chairperson Ernest Malenga confirmed that government terminated the services of Matabwa and appointed Jana as CEO.
Matabwa, who claimed he is not bitter, said he has been given the boot despite that his contract was running through 2014.
He said he will be given “a three months’ salary as notice.” But he wants to be compensated on the contract termination.
Admarc has been one of the ‘sick’ parastatals incurring losses.
Malawi Government annual economic report 2011 showed that Admarc, posted a K2.3 billion loss during the year compared to K1.9 billion in the previous year.
The new boss Jana is ruling People’s Party (PP) director of economic affairs.
He has served, among other public portfolios, as Malawi’s ambassador and Sadc coordinator in Brussels, Belgium.
