President Mutharika skips Scorchers’ State House celebration
Malawians are asking questions after President Peter Mutharika failed to appear at a State House reception held to welcome and celebrate the Malawi Scorchers.
Many have said that, as head of state, they had expected President Mutharika to attend the event in person – particularly given that the ceremony was held at State House itself, the official seat of the presidency.
The Scorchers made history at WAFCON 2026, with their remarkable run in the tournament sparking joy and pride among fans across Malawi.
Despite the significance of the occasion, no official explanation has so far been given for the President’s absence from the celebrations.
The lack of clarity has left many Malawians continuing to ask the same question: why was the country’s leader missing from an event held at his own official residence?
The President was busy with more critical things affecting the Nation. Running a country is serious business.
It’s his choice asking why is just lack of I stupidity. After all Malawians should be ashamed praising women on what men are suppose to be doing. Malawian men is a shame of manhood in the history of creation. Ministers with their third legs praising a mayor woman. Go wash yourselves men
