CH3’s K6.9m desk donation brings relief to Mchesi Primary
A Lilongwe fabrication firm has come to the rescue of Mchesi Primary School, handing over 100 desks in a move that’s brought huge relief to a school that had been battling a chronic shortage.
CH3 Interactions, based in Mchesi, splashed out MK6.9 million to maintain and restore the desks, delivered as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility drive.
Chief Executive Clement Nazombe said the gesture was far from a one-off, revealing the firm has ambitious plans to furnish schools right across Malawi with reconditioned and brand-new desks.
“We would like to complement on government’s efforts towards improving education standards,” Nazombe said, stressing just how significant the exercise was for the school.
He’s now calling on other businesses, alumni groups and individuals to join the cause, saying CH3 Interactions is eager to team up with more partners to keep desks flowing into classrooms nationwide.
The handover sparked scenes of pure joy at Mchesi Primary, with both staff and pupils celebrating the donation — proof, organisers say, of just how powerful generous CSR gestures can be for communities in need.
CH3 Interactions isn’t just about desks, though. The firm specialises in furniture for schools, offices, hospitals and other institutions, alongside bespoke custom pieces.
It also handles steel and aluminium fabrication and supply, plus delivery and installation services — and, according to Nazombe, even branches into waste management and general supplies.

This is very commendable and welcome development. The gesture will go a long way in motivating the students to work hard and concentrate in their education.
It is very worrisome to see a school like Mchesi which is within the capital city of Malawi to have inadequate learning materials.
Let me take this opportunity to sincerely thank the management of CH3 for coming to the rescue of our dear boys and girls.
Let me also collaborate with CH3 in pleading with other equally able business people and individuals to come and assist this school. The school is facing a lot other challenges apart from inadequate desks. The fance of this school is damaged. A considerable stretch of the fance either collapsed or have broken pannels that leaves the students insecure.
As we speak, some students don’t even bother using the main entrance gate and use the gaps left by the fallen pannels. May I therefore, plead with other well-wishers to come and complement what CH3 have done and rebuild the fence in all the area where the panels have collapsed.
Children need safety and protection. As it stands, safety is being compromised. May I also ask the school authorities and school committee members to quickly look into this please.
