Silver to offload 8 players in massive clearout: Malawi champions set to rope in Nomads duo
The 2012-2013 TNM Super League Champions Silver Strikers will off-load close to eight players with a possibility of roping in two Mighty Wanderers defenders and Epac FC net buster as one way of streghthening their squad in readiness of the coming soccer season, Nyasa Times understands.
Coach Franco Ndawa confirmed that he is set to ring in the changes in a bid to ready his club to defend the title and win other silverwares.
Some of the players to be shown an exit-door include Benard Namangwiyo, Panganeni Ndovi, Ndaziona Chilemba, Chipiliro Josey, Alex Makina, Kelvin, Clement Mvula and Peter Mwenda.
“We are off-loading at least eight players because our aim is to bring some more new faces to beef up our squad,”said one of the officials of Silver.
He went on to state that instead the Bankers will rope in Mighty Wanderers duo of Francis Mlimbika and Wongani Kaipa to strengthen their defence.
Silver official said the two players were in the capital city to commerce the discussions and stressed that they had a fruitful meeting.
Nyasa Times understands that part of the deal is that the duo requested the club to pay them school fees so that they pursue their courses.
“For Kaipa he wants to continue his studies in IT while Mlimbika want to continue with PAEC,” said the source.
It was also revealed that the players will be given K500,000 each as a start-up package.
The Bankers are also gunning for the signature of Epac FC net buster Ishmael Thindwa to beef up their striking force.
When Nyasa Times contacted Mlimbika and Kaipa they confirmed to have been approached by the Bankers but said it was too early to comment on the matter since they are still Wanderers players.
