Malawi’s Mwawi tops scoring sensation In Australian netball league
Malawi’s netball export Mwawi Kumwenda continues to make an impact in Australia Victorian Netball League when she inspired Peninsula Waves to pip Yarra Valley Grammar Ariels at State Hockey Centre last Wednesday .
The 70-52 victory over the sixth-placed Saints came on the back of another brilliant performance from Mwawi Kumwenda, who shot extraordinary 49 baskets from 61 attempts.
Kumwenda’s performance has attracted good press, grabbing headlines on her goal scoring sensation.
The Melboune Weekly wrote: “Kumwenda has scored more than 30 goals in every game of the Championship and the question remains whether the other teams have the defensive fire power to shut down her scoring ability because she is so damaging to the scoreboard.”
Waves coach Claire Houben said the towering Malawian player has been “incredible.”
“She is giving her all to the team. She is just fantastic,” Houben said.
The former Escom Sisters goal attacker said God is working miracles in her life.
She hailed “team work” for her good form.
