Evirom beat Civo 1-0: Malawi TNM Super League
Evirom, a side badly stripped of its pride in the first half of the TNM Super League, has glided through the gears in the second round showing some come back with another victory on Sunday.
On Sunday, the Ndirande Township based out-fit surprised the overzealous Civo United when it collected maximum three points at Kamuzu Stadium to the satisfaction of their coach Mario Gadaga after winning 1-0.
A powerful header from Nedson Kachepa after receiving a well taken corner kick in 22 minutes after the first whistle was enough for Gadaga to kneel down after the game as a sign of praising God.
Gadaga, who bowed down three times told Nyasa Times after the last whistle that they are not leaving any stone unturned in the second round.
“We are on a serious mission to remain in the League at the end of the season and we have started with Civo today,” said Gadaga.
Gadaga also praised his ‘troops’ for playing under his instructions by denying the civil servants any space to maneuver.
Civo United, who have returned to the capital city with a point having drawn 0-0 with Big Bullets on Saturday were outplayed against Envirom in all the three departments.
Despite featuring almost the same squad against Bullets on Saturday, Civo United coach, Thom Mkorongo had a misunderstanding with his players in the second half for substituting Dave Ng’ambi who had a fantastic performance for Lawrence Mwehiwa.
Immediately after being substituted, Ng’ambi refused to shake his coach’s hands before their captain Emmanuel Zoya questioned the technical panel’s decision.
In his post match interviews, Mkorongo described their loss as unfortunate because they regarded Envirom’s match as an easy one.
“It is unfortunate losing to a side which has been dropping points,” “said Mkorongo.
He however, emphasized that they will rectify their mistakes in the next game.
