Standard Bank Cup last 8 rolls into action

The K15 million Standard Bank Cup last eight rolls into full swing this coming Saturday in the first leg of the knockout competition.

Billed as match of the week, Silver Strikers ill hosts Civo United in a capital city Lilongwe derby.

The two bitter rivals –Bankers and the Civil Servants – will clash again on November 12 in a return match at Civo Stadium.

In another explosive encounter in Nchalo, Mighty Wanderers will take on Moyale Barracks at Kalulu Stadium.

Having had a bumpy trip from the capital city, last week, where they lost both of their matches against Civo United and Blue Eagles in the Super League, Escom United will be looking forward to please their supporters as they face Red Lions at Kamuzu Stadium.

Their mentor Charles Manda will bank all his hopes on Noel ‘Amfumu’ Mkandawire, Chimodzi Junior and Chimango Mpinganjira while Prichard Mwanza and Malumbo Mkandawire will carry the Moyale guns ready to switch off the lights in the commercial city.

The last fixture is between resurrected Blue Eagles and much improved Mafco FC at Nankhaka stadium.

The Cops from Area 30 defeated Escom United 1-0 in the league last week while the Salima based Soldiers had a fruitful trip in Blantyre where they ousted the People’s team in the Standard Bank.

Return matches are scheduled to take place on November 12 with the finals to be played on November 26.
