The former DD Sunshine 29-year-old defender, who is studying Sports Science at Vienna University, said she was determined to pass the trials and play for the top league side.

“The trials are progressing well and I rate chances of passing at 70 to 75 percent. The team is full of stars from other countries such as Ghanain Janest Owusu and I need to prove to the trainer that I am also good,” she said.

The deal was brokered by her friend and she was initially expected to undergo the trials in January but delayed because of visa processes at Austrian Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.

Kadzitsonga launched her professional career at a Zimbabwean side Conduit Soccer Academy Cosa but was loaned back at Skippers FC breakaway club of the country’s renowned women’s football club DD Sunshine Football.

She returned to Malawi to study language in preparation for the move to Austria.

But the Malawi spent three  months in Kenya while processing the visa.

Skipper FC official Charles Mwenda confrmed that Kadzisonga’s friend  brokered the deal.

“She has a friend in Austria and has helped her to link up with the club,” Mwenda said.

Kadzisonga’s ability to lead did not go without notice as she was appointed captain at Zimbabwe’s Conduit Soccer Academy (COSA).

Other women’s football playing professional football in the country are Loveness Nyakamera and Chrissy Kasiya at South Africa’s Kanatal Ladies while Linda Chilewe and Eliza Chaphang’omba turns up for Zimbabwe’s Auckland Queens.
