Two killed in road accident: Phalombe
Two people died on Wednesday afternoon in a fatal road accident in Phalombe district, police have confirmed.
The accident occurred along the Phalombe-Migowi road at Njuma Village at about 13:30pm.
According to Phalombe police Publicist, August Nkhwazi, the accident occured after the driver of Mazda pick up Registration Number TO 609 belonging to Welch Contractors in Lilongwe lost control of the vehicle.
The driver, Damson Chaphamtengo, 30, lost control of the vehicle and it overturned killing two people on the spot.
”The vehicle had 13 people on board at the time of the accident,” explained Nkhwazi.
The deceased have been identified as Tsekelani Zidana, 30, of Nanjiri in Lilongwe and Tsogolani Ganizani, 35, of Mayo village T/A Chakhaza in Dowa.
The two died of severe head injuries while others surstained injuries and were rushed to Phalombe Health Centre for treatment.
Nkhwazi said they have since instituted investigations to establish further what really caused of the accident.
