I hated Muluzi when he was in power. I voted for Chihana in 1994. Then in 1999 I voted for Chakuamba. But today, I regret that I hated a good man. They say “a frog realises the importance of water when the well runs dry. During Muluzi’s rule, we never saw such tribalism that we are seeing today. Muluzi championed unity among all tribes and even his cabinet was diverse. He never cared whether you are a Tumbuka or not. You don’t know what you are talking about. Some of us were motivated to leave government and seek safer havens outside of Malawi. We were targeted big time. They are the same.

That’s Kasakula, at Times! The British envoy is not naive: she knows Times group has axes to grind from several angles. The personal (Kasakula hates the Mutharikas), political (Times Group = MCP), financial (Times Group are getting hammered, fairly, for tax evasion), etc. etc. You know what may be the only thing to fix Times Group? Re-establish a dictatorship , MCP Kamuzu style, and then just BAN that media house; no questions asked. Ass wipe, for what it’s worth. But, Malawians will not go back to those dark days of evil. Muluzi ndi shasha akulankhula ngati spokeperson of the govt. Mwati Mutharika govt is pursing two important programmes namely Public Finance Management and Public Sector Reforms.

It is our duty as citizens to work with the media to expose corruption. Kudos to Times for staying focused despite numerous hurdles thrown in its path. We all know the reasons. We as citizens must continue to speak up against corruption in government and president’s lack of action against this cancerous behavior. The British government must continue to open its eyes and ears in observing what is truly happening in our country. As development partners they must speak up against poor governance and lack of transparency and accountability in APM’s administration.
