Castel Challenge Cup launched in Nsanje

The prestigious Castel Challenge Cup 2025 edition was launched on Saturday at the newly renovated Nsanje Youth Centre. Umodzi Football Club registered a 1 nil victory over Nsanje Medicals Football Club in the tournmnet’s official launch match.

Head of Product Development and Marketing Strategy at Castel Limited, Frank Binauli, hailed the large turnout of football fans adding that it was a manifestation that people love football.

“We are proud to launch the third edition of the Castel Challenge Cup especially here in Nsanje. You are aware that this cup starts from the districts. So as a company we are proud that we made a decision to be sponsoring soccer. Fans should support their teams because they will have a chance to win something as well,” he said.

Representing the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), Executive Member Felister Dossi, hailed the K440 million sponsorship, noting that the tournament will even be more competitive this year. She added that the tournament will be within the national football calendar which will end in February 2026.

“We are very appreciative of Castel for raising the sponsorship to K440 million. Teams should observe fair play as we hope to unearth more talent out of this tournament,” said Dossi.

The Castel Challenge Cup features 32 teams from small town heroes to supper league giants, offering mouthwatering action on different pitches across the country.
