Let all positions be competed for. APM grew up in democratic renown countries don’t make him dictator. Hastings enjoyed democracy in USA and UK but he denied others democracy in Malawi why? Chilima wanted to usurp power from someone who picked him as a political novice. Is that the way we say thank you? Running mate position was not merited. It could have been anyone that APM could have chosen. Where are all these big ideas coming from? He should have waited a little longer up to 2024 when APM would be statute barred to contest for the presidency.

It is the same as not having a convention if others are going unopposed. Let the dictator who goes unopposed elect people in the other positions. If you had said all the other positions will go unopposed but that of the president will be contested, that could have made more sense. That is the one people are interested in. Other wise to hell with your fake convention.
A convention is much ore than electing office bearers. Its about formulating policies, identification of key developmental projects and reviewing the manifesto for relevancy. It’s a pity that most political parties in Malawi focus on election at these conventions reflecting openly their appetite for looting.
Did you say the same about Chakwera going unopposed during MCP’s rushed convention? Unfortunately, it’s the norm in ALL parties.
