First Lady’s aide booted out of State House

Malawi Government has a special aide to the First Lady Phillomina Kasambwe in less than six months of her employment, State House chief of staff Peter Mukhito has confirmed.

Mukhito, however, said Kasambwe will not be jobless as she will be redeployed to other duties within the civil service.

He disclosed that Kasambwe’s next assignment is at Airport Development Limited (ADL).

Kasambwe, who once served Chiradzulu Central as a  Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament, was the First Lady’s special assistant.

Meanwhile,  Mukhito also confirmed the story earlier posted on Nyasa Times that State House press secretary Fred Ndala, journalist by profession, has been sent packing.

He said it was true that Mdala has been given the sack at State House and that he will be redeployed like Kasambwe.

  29. I wonder that these people you are now booting out from state house were picked from somewhere outside the civil service.

    Now that you have booted them out you say you are going to redeploy them. To where if I may ask?. Why not let them go back where they were before you picked them. Was it a means of bringing them into the main stream civil service by the back door?

  34. This is not sacking but rather chopping off ina de tchopa style. Mukhito ndi mbuli basi. He is an ex-brutal policeman with blood all over his hands.

  36. The normal practice is that personal aids/assistants are redeployed else where in the civil service if they were drawn from the civil service to become assistants. You don’t redeploy them if they weren’t civil servants s they are just appointed on preference of the politician to be served and don’t go through the civil service hiring procedure. The redeployment of the two into civil service is unprocedural and uncalled for. Is it just a way of giving permanent jobs without following the established procedures?

  38. They are going to be redeployed? In reality what this means that is that they are being imposed on another organization where there services are not required at all and will therefore be drawing almost free salaries. Meanwhile State House will replace them and in the process increasing the number of public servants at a time when the same is preaching about reforms. By the way it seems as if it was mostly ex MP’s from the southern region who were given jobs after flopping at the polls.
