Former Flames Coach Kinnah Phiri Confident Goshen City Dedza Dynamos Will Survive
Former Flames coach Kinnah Phiri says he is optimistic that Goshen City Dedza Dynamos FC will secure their TNM Super League survival, describing the team as “good enough to stay up” if they remain united and motivated.

Phiri is currently in Karonga with the squad ahead of two crucial fixtures—against Songwe Border United today (Sunday) and Karonga United on Wednesday. He said his presence is both professional and advisory.
“I am here as an advisor to the team’s sponsor, Goshen City, and in my capacity as Deputy Director of Community Development in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture,” he explained when asked why he had travelled with the team.
‘The Team Has Quality—They Just Need Motivation’
Phiri said Dedza Dynamos have the talent required to survive the relegation battle but stressed that motivation and unity will determine their fate.
“The team has six games remaining. If they can win all of them, that’s 18 points—enough to take them into the top eight,” he said, stressing that players must work together to produce results.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advising both the technical panel and the sponsor on what is required to ensure the team remains in the top-flight league.
Pressure Mounts as Dedza Fights for Survival
Goshen City Dedza Dynamos currently sit 14th on the log with 24 points from 24 matches. A win this afternoon against Songwe Border United could lift them out of the relegation zone.
Ngwira Warns Against Complacency
Head coach Alex Ngwira has urged his players to remain alert despite facing a side that has already been relegated.
“We are facing a team that has already been relegated, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy. Such teams can be used to kill us completely, but we are ready for the fight,” Ngwira said.
He also expressed confidence that Dedza Dynamos can survive the drop this season.
With six games to go, the battle remains tight—yet both the technical bench and one of Malawi’s most respected football minds believe Dedza Dynamos can pull through.
