Joyce Banda Unveils “Quick Fix” Plan to Rescue Malawi’s Economy, Draws Massive Crowd in Ntcheu
The only female presidential candidate in the upcoming 2025 general elections, Dr. Joyce Banda, made a powerful return to the political stage on Sunday as she stormed Ntcheu town, drawing a massive crowd to her rally at the old depot in the area of Traditional Authority Kwataine.
Addressing a sea of supporters, the People’s Party (PP) leader announced what she calls a “Quick Fix” strategy—a bold and urgent plan to revive Malawi’s struggling economy in the shortest time possible if elected president on 16 September 2025.
Dr. Banda outlined a series of high-impact, people-centered initiatives. Among them is the expansion of the cash transfer program, a signature policy from her previous administration, as well as the introduction of a new Cash-for-Work scheme, where citizens will engage in public works like road cleaning and receive wages in return.
“Our people are suffering, and we cannot wait any longer,” said Dr. Banda. “We need solutions that bring relief today, not five years from now. My Quick Fix plan is practical, immediate, and focused on putting money in people’s pockets.”
She also promised free secondary school education, accessible and affordable farm inputs, and robust youth empowerment programs aimed at generating both formal and informal employment opportunities across the country.
With chants of “Boma! Boma!” echoing through the crowd, Dr. Banda’s Ntcheu rally signaled a fiery start to her campaign, positioning her as a determined contender ready to take the reins of leadership and deliver urgent solutions to the challenges facing Malawians.
As the election countdown gains momentum, Dr. Banda’s “Quick Fix” approach may prove to be a game-changer in a race that’s quickly heating up.
