I fully agree with ‘Tsambi’. Look at all the prayers that go up in all the churches around the country day in and day out, what do they achieve? Comments are regularly posted on this website urging prayers beseeching God to change things in Malawi for the better. People have been praying in Malawi ever since the first missionaries arrived in the 19th century. What have all those prayers achieved? People pray to God and then have recourse to African medicine in their attempt to solve their problems. Leave God and prayers out of it and look for the right… Read more »

Good analysis, but no forward thrust. Knowing is one thing and doing something about the knowledge is the other. Changing mindset comes with sacrifice and more sacrifice. You do not expect people in control and benefiting from the status quo ready to lead change. Change has to come from outside and at an enormous cost.

We need prayers!

We don’t need prayers, Tiyeseni Phiri . Which country prospered in that way? We need leaders that have passion and hardworking spirit to develop their country. Even yourself have you been prosperous because of prayers? Wake up Malawians! You are educated so you must abide by logic. Cheers bro!

Tsambi, you are saying this because you have no idea of what prayer does or else you do not believe in them. You are talking of ‘passion and hardworking spirit’ and you think these are automatic in a person . Prosperity coming through logic ha!ha!aaa. This is what has killed Malawi. People need wisdom not logic for them to prosper. And wisdom cannot be acquired in a classsroom (education). Life is not a game of chance.

Both of you are right. But know that prayer needs also action. When the Apostles prayed after they were beaten or threatened they did not sit down but instead they went out preaching and miracles followed them. If we only pray and do nothing we can not expect anything.
