I do not believe Mutharika had any understanding of what he was writing about. How about the atrocities occasioned on Malawians by his late brother’s regime and the injustices suffered under or to later suffer from Peter’s regime? Remember he writes about past wrongs and future wrongs from present actions although he wanted the ATI Act to apply only to the present!

So what do you want to see happen Mwiza. While it is true that MCP regime was involved in violation of human rights it is not true that everyone who was a member of the regime that time or MYP was bad or evil or was involved in these violations. I bet to differ on this point. Yes as a country we need to move on past this period in our country. However, I dont think the countries been mentioned here like Rwanda and RSA ‘just moved on’. People were brought to account for their roles in these crimes and I stand to be corrected some of the people involved in the Rwandan atrocities were referred to the ICC. Without those that were in the wrong being held accountable there can never be a full reconciliation process.

MCP regime ended in 1994. Ur article is more of achieving personal political scores than serving the very interests of victims as would want the public to believe. Muluzi established the structures where victims of atrocities or relatives of victims presented their issues for whatever government interventions. Hey we are in a democrancy with institutions such as the police, ombudsman etc all for the public utilisation. Kamuzu built the foundations of this nation one of which is Chancellor college of which your an employee now. Atleast he deserves a tombstone befiting a fallen stateman. Lets not write out of hate… Read more »
