Funny how the MEC chairperson always has some justification for everything. Milonde bye election violence- all parties brought people from Lilongwe and Blantyre to do Violence. In this Case- people are dissatisfied with elected leaders ,so she says. Then you have one Moffat Banda who people know as a DPP commentantor on MBCtv,Radio now the face of MEC.Where is Mwafurirwa the spokesperson. Let professionals handle PR.These are elections not a case in court.Public Perception matters.Sit down and analyse Figures first before coming up with careless statements.

Listening to Mrs. Ansah and Mr. Moffat Banda it is clear MEC is going flat out campaigning for DPP. How can the two tell the nation that people are reluctant to register because they are not satisfied with the people they elected? We are talking about Kasungu, Dedza and Salima which are MCP strongholds. They are basically saying people in these areas should instead vote for DPP.

Rigging in progress!!

To say the truth and to be honest of myself,am one of those who think that the National ID will be used for voting considering the fact that I got registered in 2015.I was thinking that MEC will simply intergrate that information with the National ID..MEC is not clear on the role to be played by NRB by bringing them on board..The problem with MEC is relying on radios to spread the information. This is not reliable means because they are very few people listening to radios in both rural and urban areas for various reasons of which is financial constraits.Who… Read more »

It was the duty of Political gurus to encourage their supporters to go and register. MEC’s duty was to tell the people which dates are scheduled for a particular area. Not forcing them to register. Did you want MEC to go to every house hunting people to go and register? Blame Chakwera and his lieutenants for the flop not MEC. Why did you not use gulewamkulu to hunt the people?

This is very bad for MEC to return back people without registration. We need them to register please ensure that they register else will get injunctions. If you planned to rig elections by manipulating registrations in central region. This is very bad and immediately we ask you to extend the registration in these two districts.

We should put capable people to run MEC not just because they are justices of the high court or because of gender etc. People have always expressed reservation on the current chair of MEC about her capability to run a free and fair election. Already she demonstrated her partisanship when she did not act on the complaints about violence in the byelections in Mulanje. And now she is presiding over a failed voter registration and she seems to be very rigid that she cannot see the reality on the ground.
