Plan International Malawi engages the media to promote projects in the districts of implementation
Plan International Malawi has engaged the media to update them on the organization’s achievements and future initiatives across the districts of implementation.
The organization’s Country Director, Mwape Mulumbi said media has the big role to shape girls and women to bring positive change.
“Media can use their various platforms to make women and girls become agents of change for sustainable development,” she said.
She said the organization want to see how best journalists can profile, children, girls and women issues so that they bring positive change in the society.
She therefore commended the media for providing platform for girls and women as well as children’s voices to be heard.
Kasungu District Information Officer, Wanangwa Tembo applauded Plan International Malawi saying the training was
timely orientation on how the media need to handle issues to do with children, women and girls.
“In the course of our duties, sometimes we get excited to get the news while disregarding ethical issues. This dangerous especially when the source is a child,” he said..
Tembo described the training as a good refresher session for the media on the need not to be careless when handling children as sources of news as well as writing more women and girls.
Plan International Malawi is working in 14 districts of the country including Kasungu, Dowa, Karonga, Nkhota kota among others focusing on girls education, child protection, gender equality, empowerment of women and girls as well as humanitarian activities.
