I bet my last dollar that DPP will hold neither the National Political Convention nor the National Governing Council. The party will justify the status quo. Those benefitting from such decision are too powerful to be challenged by the rest of mediocre DPP members especially bearing in mind most, if not all senior members, are all zombies with no functional brain of their own.

DPP should take its time, after all, the big confusionists have left the party. It should be natural that an incumbent completing his first-term in office should be given another chance to serve a second-term unopposed. This happens in mature democracies – Obama in the USA was not subjected to a vote to contest his second term in office. The only caveat being, if she or he does not want to serve a second term or his first term has been a calamity and the party needs to replace him. None apply to Mutharika.
It happens when people are satisfied with the president. There are presidents in the so called mature democracy who only served one term.
The nkholokolos are out so there is no need to rush the convention.
