Satanist claimant arrested in Mzuzu: Malawi Police says he is trickster
A 25-year-old man, Stanley Nkhoma is currently in police custody after he failed to con a Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) congregation in Mzuzu City under the pretence that he is a converted Satanist.
Nkhoma is surely cursing the Sunday 0f 25th October, 2015 when he was cornered as he was about to pocket K18, 470.00 from Mchengautuba CCAP church.
National police publicist, Rhoda Manjolo told Nyasa Times, Nkhoma was identified by one of the congregants as a con artist who, lately, has been ripping-off churches in the cities of Mzuzu and Lilongwe.
“He went to the church and presented himself as a Satanist who was on a mission but had failed because of the powerful prayers. He was prayed for by the church elders and thereafter he begged for transport money to Lilongwe where he alleged that he stays,’’ explained Manjolo.
The congregation contributed money amounting to K18, 470.00 but his plan was foiled by a congregant who recognized him when he was about to pocket the money.
Nkhoma who hails from Nthunga village, T/A Mbelwa in Mzimba district has been charged with Attempted Theft by Trick contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code.
