No no no. Study the case of South Africa’s ESKOM, which has gone from being a shinning star to a shambolic company, in ruins. There many lessons we can learn. Compartively our power is cheap, if you compare it to say Mozambique, yet they produce in excess of their local demand. I would prefer to reduce my consumption on my own, than live with these power outages, where one fails to plan. It makes the running of any significant manufacturing plant virtually impossible. What we should ask for is for the money we pay to ESCOM to be used efficiently.… Read more »

Congratulations to ESCOM and EGENCO for electricity we are enjoying today. Congratulations also go to APM for you efforts in adding the power, just to mention a few, through USA compact, gen sets. When Escom was.complaining of reduced water levels in Shire river no one agreed. Today we are enjoying power because of increased water level, no one wants to congratulate our engineers. Well we are used to negativity. Mr Kapito, you are very right. MERA should consider reducing the cost for the power. I support you.

Why should we congratulate ESCOM and EGENCO? It’s like thanking a person for giving you clutches for broken legs when it is the same person who has deliberately broken your legs in the first place.

Honestly ESCOM and EGENCO are working so hard for us they don’t deserve any insult at all.I see them all over the country doing whatever they can to give us this much needed electricity.I applaud APM for keeping the promise and now the talk is walking. Our Engineers at EGENCO and you ESCOM I salute you for your noble causes.Keep up the spirit.

Congratulate who? I have been receiving complaints that people in Kasungu and Lilongwe (Lumbadzi) Have no power since last Saturday. Please you need to have full information from the ground and not boot licking.
