TEVETA officially launches Youths Training Project in Lilongwe

The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority of Malawi (TEVETA) in partnership with Lilongwe-based youths NGO, Ndi Tsogolo Langa, has launched ‘Youth Arise for Skills and entrepreneurial’ project.

TEVETA Executive Director Dr Ndione Chauluka launched the project on behalf of Ministry of Labour and Man power development and commended chiefs for supporting Ndi Tsogolo Langa in implementing the project.
The TEVETA boss promised that his organisation will continue supporting the project till it achieves its intended purpose of enhancing lives of Malawian youths.
“We are also considering of setting up community Development Centre so that these youths can fully be assisted,” said Chauluka.
In his remarks T/A Kabudula commended TEVETA and Ndi Tsogolo Langa for the implementation of programme saying it will go a long way in assisting the youths in his area.
Kabudula said the programme will reduce early marriage in his area as well as reducing school’s drop-out.
Ndi Tsogolo Langa Executive Director, Joy Chitsulo advised the youths to take advantage of the training by taking the lessons seriously.
Chitsulo said the first intake will have the manageable figure of 80 students.
“As you are aware that the youths are in Majority in this country now we can’t talk about development while side lining our youths,” said Chitsulo.
Ndi Tsogolo Langa ED Joy Chitsulo said Ndi Tsogolo Langa is implementing first phase of the project in the area of Traditional Authority Kabudula and Mbang’ombe through the project.
“The idea is that the student can use the certificate to establish him/herself by starting the personal business in various discipline or else the same certificate can be used to seek employment,” said
Chitsulo.
Chitsulo said after graduating 80 students, the project will also have another intake of 80 from T/A Mbang’ombe.
Some of the skills which the students will be horned includes; carpentry, brick laying, tinsmithing, welding, kneeting and bakery.
Chitsulo said at the end of the training, the graduating students will receive the Certificate.
Ndi Tsogolo Langa was registered in 2012 to work in the following thematic areas; women, girls and youths empowerment, agriculture, health and climate change.
