Big Brother Africa 8 registration in Malawi starts January

Africa’s number one reality TV show, Big Brother Africa (BBA) returns next year with a call to registration beginning next month, according to MultiChoice Malawi.

The announcement was made Tuesday by the company’s sales and marketing regional manager for the South, Chimwemwe Nyirenda, who wrote on social network Facebook.

On his timeline, Nyirenda wrote “Breaking News: Get ready Malawi…Big Brother Africa season 8 coming…call to entry for new housemates to begin in mid Jan…dont [sic] forget this will be its 10th year.”

BBA season 8 will be coming following the previous edition, BBA 7, which had contestants competing in pairs for a total cash prize of US$ 300,000, ended on the night of August 6.

BBA 7, which was nicknamed ‘Stargame’, had two houses in the contest, “Upville” and “Downville” with seven celebrity contestants entering “Upville” while the other 30 entered “Downville”.

Malawi was represented by 22-year-old cousins, Watipaso ‘Wati’ and Alinafe ‘Nafe’ Kulemeka. The former survived until the closing day 91, but was the first to be evicted, finishing on position six while the later was evicted on day 56.

The 2012 edition went to the host nation South Africa and was won by Keagan Petersen. The show was beamed to over 40 nations across the African continent.
