Blacks, manager Ras Harawa part ways after bitter row in UK
Reggae outfit The Black Missionaries and its manager Ras Ray Harawa parted way during the UK tour, Nyasa Times understands.
Ma Blacks as the band is popuraly known, had to cancel their Ireland show after UK tour and also a scheduled performance at Commonwealth Games Glasgow show over disagreements.
Nyasa Times understands the band and the manager bad bitter row in Scotland during their stay in UK.
Harawa resigned before the band’s last performance in Luton.
When contacted for comment, Harawa refused to discuss about Ma Blacks.
“I can’t comment about the band,” he said.
Asked if he was still manager or indeed he resigned, Harawa stressed he has no authority to speak on behalf of Ma Blacks anymore.
Sources within the band said Harawa resigned as a result of gross indiscipline to some band members who were undermining his leadership.
When contacted for comment, Ma Blacks band leader Anjiru Fumurani said they will issue a statement on the matter later.
“We will formally comment through a statement,” he said.
Fumulani however gave the assurance that the band will continue to work arduously to maintain the high standard of musical service it has provided over the years.
