Campaign in full swing for Mchinji West byelection
Campaign for Mchinji West has informally kicked off with vice president Saulos Chillima on Sunday taking time off from his Sunday schedule to drum up support for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
He told the people that the government would provide street lights at the boma.
Chilima also promised them the renovations for the hospital kitchen would start as soon as this month as a contractor had already been identifies.
He also said the government would construct a guardian shelter. He appealed to people to always work with the government of the day for accelerated development in their respective areas.
The DPP is fielding Stefano Kamwani, a businessman as the candidate for the October 4 parliamentary by election.
The constituency fell vacant following the sudden death of Billy Kanjira Banda who was member of parliament for the area.
