Caps disappointed with Zambezi Cup change of venue

Zimbabwean based Caps United has expressed disappointment with the shifting of the Zambezi Challenge Cup from the Capital City Lilongwe to the commercial city of Blantyre following the complaint from Bullets F.C Camp that they cannot play on Tuesday 3rd May 2015 hence opting to play on Wednesday.

Bullets demanded that they go to the lower Shire district of Nsanje to on the day set for the two team tournament [Bullets vs Cap] to donate assorted relief items to flood victims in Nsanje.

Organizers of the competition Top sport through their Operations Manager Kelvin Moyo admitted that they had no choice but to bow down to Bullets camp.

“Caps United Boss is very disappointed and demanded to pull out of the competition demanding the prize money for the winner because the contract indicated they will play on 2nd March and not 3rd march as demanded by Bullets,” said Moyo.

According to Moyo, Bullets pleaded with the organizers to shift the dates as they [Bullets] had to go to Nsanje and the organizers had no choice despite Caps United’s resistance tp play on Monday 3rd March, 2015..

Other reports indicated that the Malawian government contributed to the postponement to pave way for 3rd March national commemorations to remember the foreign heroes who helped in the fight for Malawi’s independence.

But Moyo said his committee was not aware of the development.

“We were not told about that and we are not aware of that” said Moyo.

Meanwhile, Bullets will face Caps United Wednesda 4th March 2015 at the Kamuzu Stadium.

Moyo however said the change will affect the turn up of people sinmce it will be a mid week encounter.

Caps are the defending champions of the Zambezi Challenge cup having beaten Mighty Wanderers in the inaugural final last yea

No 13 ‘Mtchona wopanda mano’ i want to concur with you. Nyasatimes need to improve on your editorial. Am not a journalist but can easily pick the mistakes. For example the month of May is two months away from now. How can you make such a silly mistake of misrepresenting dates? Shame! So correction; it is Tuesday 3rd March 2015 and not Tuesday, 03rd May 2015 PLEASE

How can Kelvin allow this game on third March. It is not a game for celebrations but reflection. Good to shift to Mach 4th

Do not regret if turnout will be disappointing. It is a product of poor planning.

Do they have editors at Nyasatimes? How can this writer call our ‘FALLEN HEROES’ ‘foreign heroes’. I have tolerated your wrong spellings for too long and I am now sick. Go back to school!

3rd March was very inappropriate day for the game!! Why 3rd March of all the dates??? Remember during the Kamuzu era even shops were not opening on this day. It was deemed to be a day of mourning. Such being the case, it would have been inappropriate to be playing football and cerebrating goals etc etc. Let us not dilute the day that much fellow Malawians!!!!
