Govt fires convicted MCP councillor over Escom property
Government has fired a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) councillor for Bembeke in Dedza after his conviction on tampering with Escom property.
Local government ministry spokesperson Mulhabalhe Mughogho confirmed that Davie Lingalawe has been fired as councillor.
“He has since returned the stolen Escom property but our laws say anyone convicted of any offence should leave office,” said Mughogho.
She said local government elections would be held in Bembeke ward following the firing of Lingalawe. There was no immediate comment from the MCP.
However pollster, the Malawi Electoral Commission has set October for holding by elections, both parliamentary and local government.
That’s very good madam, fire them all. one by one. But what principle is being used here madam,?
Some ministers were the first to ……….. but to date nothing has been done. Should we say only MCP members are being arrested and convicted, no but thieves.
You should start with the 7 ministers implicated? Hold Kalekeni Kaphale’s both hands and vigorously pull him up, sure, you will find the names hidden under his buttocks; failing which, procrastination will be order of the day till 2019 and all the Lhomwe gadgets will vote for them and we continue to relinquish till 2099. These foolish gadgets are many like locusts unless central and north we gun up together.
Mlakho ……….. You are talking these people will sell everything until we hear lake malawi is sold already , now they are looking at capital hill buidings, universities, kamuzu palace, govt houses, even M1 an be sold. They dont care. North and central should claim better educated people but they are easily fooled when it comes to elections ———– south is very clever.
