Jumbe maintains he remains MCP, only convention will decide
Main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) fired director of research Felix Jumbe insists he is still a party member and would not go to court to challenge his expulsion.
“No one has powers to fire me from the party, it is only the convention. Let us wait for the convention which will decide my future in MCP,” he said.
He said he has no time to challenge his expulsion from the party in the courts when it is obvious what party leader Lazarus Chakwera did to fire him was illegal.
Jumbe therefore dismissed speculation that he was heading to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party after his expulsion from the MCP.
Chakwera fired Jumbe, Chatinkha Chidzanja Nkhoma and a former southern region party chairman and suspended party spokesperson Jessie Kabwila and Joseph Njobvuyalema in what he said rebuilding the party.
