Mfumu ya luso, you don’t know what you are talking about. Companies make money, so they can afford to buy expensive cars. Do you know what city assemblies do?

  2. Mfumu ya Luso says:

I see nothing wrong with the plan by the council to buy the cars for the Mayor and his deputy. These people hold high offices and their benefits should befit the status of their offices. I wonder when people complain when companies are buying cars or paying for other benefits for their top employees. They deserve those benefits.

It’s the same, if it were you holding those positions, they would have bought you the vehicles.

Malawi woke up! No wonder we are the poorest country in the world. Poor mindset………..and jealousy.

  3. Malawiana says:

Treasury and OPC please move quickly on this issue of appetite for expensive vehicles in Government and Parastatals. Imagine Government buys a Prado at K50million for the use of the PS or Director or whoever.the vehicle is used sparingly knowing that the beneficially will buy it at K 1million after three to five years. If thats not bad enough, soon before the vehicle is bought by the beneficially PS, it is sent for extensive service at the service garage at the cost of K1,500,000 which in essence means the vehicle has been offered for free. This is total madness to say the least! remove all these vehicle entitlements and start providing them with loans to buy cars of their choice otherwise we are spending billions a year on vehicles alone for a few previlaged people. Stop this nonsense and I hope the reform people are listening.

  4. Citizen X says:

Looks are the huge pot holes we have in our streets. Looks at our Public Toilets. A whole city doesn’t have even have decent public toilets. Look at the litter that’s in our streets. Yes we poor but it doesn’t mean we should be filthy. Compare Lilongwe and BT city these cities ar both in the poorest country in the world but BT is way much better. Cleaner. Iife aku Lilongwe makoko a chimanga ali paliponse ma plastic bags. I love Malawi so much our country is so peaceful and friendly. Lets Make it clean. The Beam crap isn’t doing shit. 9. Chief Strategist says:

Lilongwe mayors are very useless and don’t even deserve such benefits. Nothing they have done since becoming mayors especially the mayor himself. Such an embarrassment and the mayor of Blantyre just makes them look like standard 2 children

  10. victim Chamkhuni Lwazazi says:

Lilingwe City Chief Executive, hsi Finance director and their deputies are buying the mayor and some deputies to cover up for their mismanagement and corruption. Luxuries at a time when the city and the whole nation is in financial turmoil? When the infrastructure and sanitation in LL is that of 1940? Where is the Min. of Local Government? Where is the president? Lilongwe City is full of retarding and disgusting headlines. Get rid of the so called influential and big headed guys at the city office for the good of Lilongwe.

  11. Mpezeni Phiri says:

Chapondera and his youth brute deputy are a disgrace to our city. These two are clueless, vitsiru veniveni. Here in Lilongwe city we need msika wabwino, bus depot and renovations of city roads and street lights koma ayi ndithu mbuzi izi zikungofuna kuba ndalama basi. Honestly i miss Kelvin Mmangisa, the guy tried to make our city better not mbuzi zitatu ziripanozi. Please bring M’mangisa back to LLC and he will improve things there. Chapondera is just a useless former primary school teacher who is clueless while his deputy lidali lova losowa chochita mu Area 18 and palibe chazeru chomwe angapange apart from kuba ndalama basi. These two idiots deserve mere biycles not such expensive cars.

  12. EYE WITNESSES says:

Sounds good enough. Koma ife eeeeh we do not invest in permanent cause but in materials that our children will not live to enjoy in the future. In short we are selfish.

  15. Tango says:

Poor Malawi. Aaaaaaaa, this so called Mayor is not performing to deserve a new car. This bastard should have been given an oxcart as per his performance.

  16. zandile says:

Where is the minister of local govt? K70 million for two people for vehicles. Where are NGOs, Mejn etc?

  17. zandile says:

Malindima, K47 million is too much. Go for something cheaper. Are u saying the mayor did not have a car? Does he need a Prado? What for?

  18. Malindima says:

This is exactly what is required on transport and nothing new. During MCP time, a mayor was using a Merc 280s exactly the same range as that of a Minister. This position of Mayor is not ceremonial as others think. All the councillors report to him and these are responsible to gather details of the challenges from the wards. That is why our cities deteriorated to this level as we did not have the city legislative assemblies where these matters could could be discussed and resolve problems.
    They deserve the vehicles period!

    1. But they used to perform and so deserved the honor not these two sons of b…..s!!!

  40. Shaibu says:

What a waste of resources. These idiots dont deserve such expenditure. Kwame is completely useless and his Chapondera is a disgrace. All they want is to milk and offer nothing in return.

  41. zandile says:

And you think you can develop with lavish spending. K47 million for car? The city assembly is failing to provide services. I am appealing to all city residents NOT to pay city rates.

  42. Zangazanga D. Chinkhwiko says:

This level of extravagance does not match the meagre resources that the city has.

Kodi a Malawi anzanga when are we going to stop this madness? Why not buy decent yet affordable vehicles for these idiots?

From today onwards I waive my duty to paying city rates and all fees due to the city council including parking fees.
