Livingstonia synod probes Mzimba school projects

The Church and Society of the Livingstonia synod has embarked on a three month investigation into school projects in Mzimba to find out if the projects were done according to the plan.

The investigation which targets 20 schools in Mzimba North and South education zones is under Kalondolondo project under local development fund.

Briefing members of the Mzimba district council recently, Livingstonia synod church and society project officer Park Muhonda said the exercise is aimed at finding out if transparency prevailed during the construction of the school blocks.

“During the fact finding mission we shall look at readiness of the community to participate in LDF activities, transparency in procurement of materials, quality of the classroom blocks after completion, selection of local artisans and overall impact of the school block on education services,” said Muhonda.

The council members allowed the church and society to carry out the exercise which runs from August to October. Of course it has delayed abit due to other factors.

Mmbelwa district council director of public works Amon Chizimba said construction of the school blocks went on well and welcomed the church and society to carry out the verification exercise.
