Boxer Robert Kachiza who was mercilessly knocked down by a Zimbabwean boxer Tinashe Mwadziwana on Sunday at the Lilongwe Community Centre Ground has apologized to the Malawi nation for the embarrassing defeat he suffered.
Kachiza could not stand the heat as his Zimbabwean counterpart landed heavy punches on him some on a high frequency from the word go.
He however could not last long as the fight was called off in the second round after the Malawian born boxer was knocked down unconscious after felling to the canvas a couple of times.
Speaking in an interview for the first time since the bout took place, the boxer who confessed he did not know anything from the day he was knocked down conceded the defeat and rated his opponent as an experienced, very powerful and far much better boxer than himself.
“He is indeed a good boxer very strong and energetic. The past two days I have been unwell because of his heavy punches” Kachiza told a local radio on Thursday.
“After regaining my conscious, people have been telling me that I mate a powerful boxer but to me, he is not only powerful but also has very good tactic and techniques” he added.
Meanwhile, the boxer has apologized to all Malawians and promoter for the embarrassment he has brought to the nation.
“I am apologizing to all Malawians and the promoter of the fight for what happened” said Kachiza.
The boxer lost the fight in front of hundreds of people including the Youth Development and Sports Minister Grace Obama Chiumia.
Speaking to reporters after the bout, the winner Mwadziwana said Kachiza did not match his level and that he was not fit to fight.
“He was no match for me. I feel sorry for him. I don’t think he was fit to be in that ring” Mwadziwana said.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
