FAM reunites NRFA and clubs

The drama that surrounded the Northern Region Football Association League is finally over following a fruitful meeting the concerned parties had recently with Football Association of Malawi (FAM) as mediators.

The mediation talks were held through a football administration two day workshop organized by FAM which came to an end on Tuesday 12th May, 2015 in Mzuzu.

Despite the Simama League affiliates [clubs] speaking against the administration workshop lately claiming they are already perfect in as far as soccer administration is concerned, the decision to cease fire was reached upon through the same workshop they have been ignoring.

There was voting among the club representatives on whether to have the current NFRA Committee remain or removed of which the majority opted that it stay but should improve in its dealings.

Spokesperson for the teams Gerald Dube confirmed that the matter has been resolved,

“The voting was done between those who wanted the committee to go or stay. The majority was that they stay so in democracy, the majority always rules” said Dube.

Dube said they all agreed that the committee stays because the Committee admitted they made mistakes and that they have realized the shortfalls which they promise will never happen again.

NRFA General Secretary Alfred Gunda was delighted that the differences have finally been resolved.

“Misunderstandings are always there but now it is over. We have resolved the differences and it has been agreed that we start a new chapter. We have noted where we erred and we need to move on” Gunda explained.

The wrangles reached the climax when the association rescheduled a match between Kapolo Stars and Mzuni F.C claiming the match which ended 1-0 in favour of Kapolo ended prematurely.

They ended up handing Mzuni three points [that helped the club to win championship and promotion to top flight TNM Super League] after Kapolo boycotted the rescheduled match.

Fam Vice President Moses Mkandawire, Competitions Manager Gomezgani Zakazaka and Executive Member James Mwenda represented FAM during the workshop.
