Malawi Fashion Week hosts cocktail party in Lilongwe

The Malawi Fashion Week (MFW) has invited the country’s company executives, business moguls and members of the diplomatic corpse to a cocktail slated for this Friday at KIA Motors Showroom in Lilongwe.

The cocktail party, which will start at 6:30pm is one of the pre-events organized by the MFW team ahead of the fashion festival Malawi will be hosting starting May 30th to June 3rd 2013 at the magnificent President’s Hotel in the capital.

“We have held several pre-shows targeting different groups including fashionistas, the youth and the grassroots, so we thought it’s now time we took the event to the executives and other VIPs,” said Kimpho Hastings Loka, MFW PR Manager.

“The fashion week targets everyone in Malawi and we want them to appreciate what the Malawi Fashion Week has in store through this gathering,” Loka added.

He further revealed that apart from other foreign wine, a Malawian-made Linga Fruit Wine, produced in Lilongwe, will also make rounds during the evening.

Besides the wine and cuisine cocktail, the invited distinguished guests will also be treated to golden oldies and contemporary music as well as dance and poetry.

Loka disclosed that as the MFW promotes different talent through designing and modeling, the organizers are also helping the models who will be rocking the runway during the fashion week to unearth their other talents, which include music, poetry and dancing.

“We have models who are singers, dancers and poets, so during the cocktail on Friday, we’re going to have dance routines and poetry recital,” he said.

During the cocktail night, there will also be a raffle draw where VIP tickets to the four-day MFW event will be given to winners.

Meanwhile, MFW 2013 tickets are now available at K10, 000 VIP and K6, 000 Standard per day. For the grand opening night, May 31st, there are corporate tables available at K90, 000 for ten people and K55, 000 for six people.
