His career hit the rock after bad behaviour that resulted in him being poor.

Gondwe decided to take up a theological course in Bible and theology to help preach the word of God through sports.

“It is a dream come true to be a pastor and now I can fulfill my ambition as a pastor,” said Gondwe.

Meanwhile, Gondwe wants to form street football teams in Zomba, Mzuzu and Lilongwe.

“We want to use football to transform the lives of minibus touts, vendors and street children,” said the former Malawi football national team star.

He managed to lure a group of over 40 youngsters drawn from the Blantyre streets into forming a football team called Pentecostal Street Giants for Christ.
