Police in the commercial city of Blantyre Monday shot dead three criminals.
The Police officers from Limbe station cornered the criminals who were about to stage a robbery in Mudi residential area and killed three of them in a gunfire exchange.
National police spokesperson, Rhoda Manjolo said the law-officers cornered the criminals following a tip-off.
This is a second time police have shot dead criminals. Last week the law-enforcers killed two habitual criminals in the capital city of Lilongwe.
”We had information on the 7th of May that there were criminals who wanted to attack a certain house in Mudi residential area at gate no 30. Our officers visited the area but the criminals didn’t turn up,” explained Manjolo.
She said on Monday they had another information that the criminals were set to stage the robbery.
”We were informed that the criminals were organising themselves at a certain place in Makheta. The officers rushed to the place, however the criminals started firing at them using antic firearm(muzzle
Manjolo said the officers fired back in retaliation and killed three of the criminals.
”One has run away. Police is thanking all those well wishers who are providing fruitful information.”
Manjolo mainted her appeal to all Malawians to continue providing Police with “reliable information” with which to make Malawi a tough place for criminals to operate in.
“Our officers will continue using necessary force because most of the times their lives are endangered when confronting armed criminals,” said Manjolo.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
