Malawi recall veterans Fischer, Kanyenda for Mali match

Bullets right winger Fischer Kondowe and battles scarred striker Essau Kanyenda have been recalled for Malawi national football team camp on Sunday in preparations for the Flames’  Africa Cup of Nations games against Mali and Ethiopia on November 15 and 19 respectively.

Kondowe, who is top form at  his club Bullets, has been sidelined for national team duty in this campaign.

But Football Association of Malawi (FAM), which released the call-up on Friday at Chiwembe Technical and Development Centre, included Kondowe.

The controversial and outspoken winger said he was happy to be recalled.

“I am happy that the coach has recalled me. I will do all I can to help the team if I can be given the chance,” Kondowe said.

South Africa based professional Kanyenda has also been considered for the national team duty as the Flames seek to qualify for the third Afcon finals appearance.

The Flames, currently facing goalkeeping crises with the inconsistent and unimpressive performance of McDonald Harawa and Richard Chipuwa have also recalled Charles Swini who was sidelined after an injury.

The Flames have also recalled Mozambique based professional Zicco Mkanda who has inspired his team Liga Desportiva Maculmana to a league title by scoring 11 goals just three behind top goal scorer in Mozambique.

Bullets Under-20 sensational defender Miracle Gabeya has also be included in the team.

The following is the full list squad:
Goal Keepers;  Macdonald Harawa, Richard Chipuwa, Charles Swini
Defenders; Francis Mlimbika, Bashir Maunde, Sankhani Mkandawire, John Lanjesi, Harry Nyirenda, Limbikani Mzava, Miracle Gabeya
