Malawi stars on target in South Africa league

Malawi national football team stars Gabadinho Mhango and Atusaye Nyondo stole the show for both of their teams as Bidvest Wits beat Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa’s top league PSL 2-1 on Saturday.

Mhango, who has secured a starting place in Bidvest Wits, started strongly as he unleashed a powerful shot but it went begging across the goalmouth barely 1 minute after kickoff.

However, the Malawian scored the winning goal in the 50th minute after Thabang Monare scored the first goal in the 4th minute.

Monare’s goal was cancelled by another Malawian Atusaye Nyondo opening his account at Celtic in the 30th minute.

The highly motivated  Mhango was voted man of the match for the third time since the season started for inspiring Wits to beat his former club.

The win has maintained the team’s unbeaten run having four wins and one draw while Celtic grapples with their poor start to the season and are launguishing on 12th position in the 16 team league.

The diminutive Malawian has attributed his top form to teamwork.

“We work as a team every game for us is important and we need to win each and every game that is in front of us and we just need to continue working hard,” Mhango told South Africa’s television channel, Supersport.

I watched that game and I’m proud to say Malawi has the talent when it comes to goal scoring. Muhango is indeed one of the most feared striker. His fame is growing like that of Kanyenda in his years. Keep it up Malawi we are proud of you here. Anyamatawa mu ukonde ndiye mnyumba mwao.
