Chilima observed that it has taken a long time for the offices to be completed to enable other government Ministries that are renting from private owners to occupy it.

“It has really taken a long time for the offices to be completed and we want this to be done quickly to ensure that some government ministries that are currently renting from private owner occupy the building, “said Chilima.

The Vice President however said it was pleasing to learn that the contractors will strive to work hard and finish construction of the office building early next year and be ready for occupation.

He said once the construction of the building is finished it will provide office space to many government Ministries that are currently renting from the private owners.

“The office building will create conducive working environment for the civil servants and also make government save some money that is paid to private sector where some ministries are renting,” said Chilima.

He said government will continue constructing more office buildings at Capital Hill to ensure that all government ministries operate within the same premises.

The office building is being constructed by Delta Constructions Limited.

Delta Constructions Construct Manager Victor Msowoya said the project was delayed because of the high cost of materials.

Msowoya said he was optimistic that the project will be completed soon because some of the materials have already been bought.-Mana

Office block for what? Kamuzu Banda developed this country without that office block. We need development at grass root level and not at the capital hill. Moreover Chilima is supposed to be working at the capital hill everyday so what was special with him inspecting the office block?

Just to help MANA when reporting such news – please provide with details like number of office rooms, number of floors, contractor, structure engineers (project managers), etc. When was the expected date of completion and it has delayed by how long? When is the new completion date and expected dates of occupation. Construction news is all about that! The contractors are simply saying the quote sum which was in MK has been lost in devaluation since they are supposed to import most of the construction materials in USD. That means they need a contract review to reflect new costs …………….

We want cordial relationships between the president and the vice president!!! We want our Malawi to be the warm heart of Africa. Problems may come but they are problems!! We are all Malawians , from Chitipa to Nsanje!! People do not hate this country and even this leadership!! People need a change in their life. I know it is difficult as of now but it is possible. I cannot live a life of pretence. Let us make policies that can benefit the poor. That is my message!!!

  15. PLEASE FINISH THIS PROJECT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. DONOT LIE TO THE NATION NEXT TIME BY BLAMING CASHGATE.
