Malawi VP Kachali promotes CCAP fund raising Golf tournament

Malawi Vice President Khumbo Kachali on Saturday led Lilongwe Golf Club players at a K5 million-fund-raising tee-off tournament, organized by the Area 12’s Lingadzi Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP).

Kachali teed off the 75-minute Golf tournament, with smiles and seriousness.

Speaking to reporters, Kachali said he was happy to participate in the tournament on behalf of President Mrs Joyce Banda who was in Uganda at the time attending the 16th COMESA summit.

“Let me ask all Malawians to support Lingadzi CCAP in its quest to fund raise K5 million for building a Multipurpose Hall and similarly promoting the Gospel in our society,” said Vice President Kachali.

He said he appreciated to be part of the game on Saturday as it is sports in nature to strengthen his body.

“Every Friday I take a walk from my residence going towards the Capital Hill to improve my health,” said Kachali, adding, “Let’s have good health by participating in sports.”

Players who participated in the game included General Henery Odillo of the Malawi Defence Force, Justin Henery and Smile Namagonya.

On his part, Pastor of Lingadzi CCAP Rev. David Zembeni said he was glad to see the Vice President participating in the fund raising tournament.

“I am happy to see Vice President Khumbo Kachali here. We need K5 million for our new hall to be constructed.

“We will start constructing the Multipurpose Hall after we get permission from the Town Planning Office. We are yet to get a go ahead from government,” said Zembeni.

The Pastor also said Lingadzi CCAP has 7000 membership of Christians and was established in 1974.

Present at the function was the District Commissioner of Lilongwe Paul Kalilombe, some government officials and Peoples Party officials among others.
