But the Flames might find it difficult to participate after Football Association of Malawi  (FAM) ruled out participation because of financial problems.

Malawi  FA also did not plan for Cecafa as the association is yet to come  up with a the ne names of coaches to take over from the Belgium coach Tom Saintifiet and his assistants Eddington Ng’onamo and Patrick Mabedi.

Fam is also in doubt over the Malawi’s participation at Under-20 Cosafa tournament to be held in Lesotho in December

“Plans to host the regional competition are going on smoothly and I must reveal that we are actively engaging several sponsors, whom we want to come on board. Next week, we will officially kick-off formal preparations and also make public our partners,” Nyamweya told Goal.

Nyamweya expressed confidence that they will get a title sponsor for the event after a three year deal with East African Breweries Limited (EABL) lapsed last year. The federation needs Sh60 million to have a successful tourney.

“The matches will be played in Nairobi and Kisumu. Work on laying of the artificial turf in Kisumu is already underway and we hope it will be done in the next few weeks.”

Malawi were in the same group H with Kenya, Nigeria and Namibia in the World Cup qualifiers in which they managed two draws home and away against the Harambee Stars.

They hold Kenya to a goalless draw in Kenya before spoiling a chance to win when Kenya scored a stoppage time equalizer for a two-all draw at Kamuzu Stadium.

In 2010 Malawi also beat Kenya 3-2 in Dar-es-Salaam in the group stages of the tournament.

Malawi lost to Ivory Coast  1-0 in the quarterfinals of the competition
