MCP says has another Ahmed Dassu in NEC
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) on Friday said they have appointed into its national executive committee another Ahmed Dassu after a UK based governance campaigner Ahmed Dassu told Nyasa Times that he declined the appointment by the party’s president Lazarous Chakwera.
MCP said their new NEC member Ahmed Dassu stays in Blantyre.
Dassu- one of the frontline pro-democracy activists who helped late Chakufwa Chihana to champion multi-party democracy in the 90’s– who stays in England on Friday said he Had declined the appointment by Chakwera as MCP deputy director of political affairs.
He sent Chakwera a letter which was also posted on Nyasa Times that he will focus on activism role.
Recently wealthy businessman Jimmy Korea Mpatsa also declined MCP post, so too Ireen Chikapa who was legal advisor.
