Police nab suspect over Kadyanji’s murder

Malawi Police have claimed to have achieved a breakthrough in the killing of a 45 year old woman Dinna Kadyanji who was working at the Accountant General office as an Accounts Officer, with the arrest of a suspect.

Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer, Ramsy Mushani confirmed that police arrested a suspect and they are pursuing “important leads” in their investigation.

The Police spokesman shielded the name of the suspect “to avoid jeopardising investigations.”

But Nyasa Times learnt police were questioning a Zion Church Pastor identified as Chinula from Area 23’s Masambabise Area .

The body of the late Kadyanji was dumped at Kanyandula Village, close to Chiuzira Trading Centre in Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe.

It was discovered on Monday morning almost naked with only underwear on it and her wrapper hanging on a tree branch close by.

“She had lots of cuts on her head and there were some black plastic bags close to the body, “one person who saw the body said.

Sources said the deceased very close to the Zion Church pastor that she bought a car for him.

However, the woman had acrimonious relationship with her parents and that the pastor told the woman that her parents caused her recent accident because they wanted her dead so that they could inherit her property.

Police spokesman said the issue of the Pastor is one of the key leads but could not comment further.

Pastor Chinula said he had informed police on the missing of the woman but was not interrogated as a suspect.
