PP brands Zikhale frustrated and opportunist

People’s Party (PP) has accepted the resignation of its campaign director Ken Zikhale Ng’oma who rejoins ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which he helped establish, saying he is frustrated recycled politician and opportunist.

Nyasa Times reported on Sunday that Zikhale had written PP resigning his position and withdrawing his membership from the party

But PP secretary general Paul Maulidi  said the defection by Zikhale is  a sign of frustration following his loss in the parliamentary election.

“He contested for a seat in Nkhata Bay under PP but lost. This is just frustration as people mostly react angrily after losing an election,” said Maulidi.

Maulidi also described Zikhale as opportunist who wants to be associated with every governing party.

“ You should also know that some people are like political whirlwind; they just want to be associated with ruling parties,” said Maulidi.

Zikhale has  said he has rejoined  DPP because PP and the governing party have similar ideologiesand that President Peter Mutharika is accommodating other political parties.

Maulidi wondered when Zikhale knew about the ideological similarities.

Zikhale was one of the DPP founders in 2005 and was its first secretary general. He left the party to form New Republican Party (NRP) with Gwanda Chakuamba only to return to the party just before the 2009 general elections. He later joined PP after its founder Joyce Banda became president.
