Renewal in ECG Church: Prophet Bushiri fires PRO, key staff

Major Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has fired his public relations officer Kelvin Sulugwe, his personal aide Silverster Nkanda and some 14 other key administrative staff.

The Prophet announced these dismissals on Sunday at his Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG)  church in Pretoria showgrounds, South Africa.

These dismals are part of the reforms currently underway at ECG.

Bushiri could not provide the details of the dismissal.

However, the Prophet justified the decision by underlining that even a President of a country dissolves an entire cabinet and hires new ministers.

He told the fully packed congregation that he will bring renewal in his team.

However, the Prophet underlined that the fired staff will remain his “sons”, promising to support them when they need his help.

“They remain my sons and will help them whenever they need my support. They will still get my support,” said Bushiri.

He further added he has given  Christlike clarity to the fired staff why the action has been taken.

“Firing someone is one of the most difficult tasks of a leader. It is especially a challenge in a Christian organisation. But sometimes it is the right and courageous thing to do. Sometimes the greater danger is doing nothing,” he said.

On Sulugwe, his longtime PRO, the Prophet explained that he (Sulugwe) has not done anything wrong.

“Sulugwe is a professional who has done so much to develop ECG. I admire him and I shall always do and supporting him to start a new indipendent life. However, it is important to understand that he is not the only person who has been fired. There also 15 others. I just want to have a new team from 2017 that can continue from where these legends stopped,” he said.

Sulugwe confirmed being fired but declined to comment further.

he was employed and what do we do with employed people we disemploy them. so what is wrong with this. churches have to be told. Infact the only rot in Christ’s camp was Judas and you know what he did and eventually led to Christ’s death. Because it was providence, Christ left him so that he should betray him because noone was courageous enough to do it except Judas. So Bushiri knows this fact well as man of God.

I am not a follower of Bushiri but I commend Major 1 or whatever title you give him for firing almost the whole team of his management. One major reason why I support this move is because the team started to use Prophet Bushiri’s ECG ministry to obtain favours fraudulently especially in Malawi. The guys would come proclaiming that they were Bushiri’s advance party and ask for services which they never paid. Several lodges and eating houses can attest to this. Bushiri’s team started to bring his ministry and even businesses into disrepute. Bushiri has done well to correct the… Read more »

Seems like many people awaiting the PSB to drown are a bit excited to see that he can also have issues. Of course where human are issues will be to face. He handles as a good leader and takes necessary decisions for all. I bet, as a prophet he had given chances to those people to come right. But in the top management sometimes people become full of themselves if they can not humble themselves and be prayerful: Glory brings many temptations- just like Lucifer at the beginning. Thank you GOD we have a Prophet who can sense the danger… Read more »

As a leader of that great congregation to er is human and God forgives. Actually if it’s renewal of office then the wrong word was used and should it be a crime dismissal is also not in place but rather discipline but who am I to judge? I will only pledge with the affected that if the Truth is there they should accept in good faith to continue with their worship under any leader to come.
