Simama Northern Region Football Association sponsor Bishop Abraham Simama has threatened to pull out sponsorship following the unprofessional manner of handling things by the Northern Region Football Association League (NRFAL).
Simama sent the warning shot in a brief interview with private owned Zodiak Radio on Friday morning.
He seem to be angered with the way Mzuni F.C were crowned champions in the just ended 2014-15 season.
“I am concerned like anybody else because I don’t like somebody getting points on the table but should be on the field of play” said Simama.
“As a company, we are meeting and as board we might pull out the sponsorship,” warned Bishop Simama.
Mzuni were crowned champions through a board room decision by the NRFA.
The association ordered a replay of a game between Kapolo Stars and Mzuni which they claimed ended prematurely but Kapolo refused to play.
The association however went on to hand Mzuni three points which saw them finish with a point ahead of second placed Chilumba Barracks. Chilumba Barracks however launched a complaint to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) which is yet to act on the matter.
Last soccer season, the league was also involved in a controversy between champions Champions Karonga United and the same Mzuni FC.
Bishop Abraham Simama sponsors the league to the tune of 3 million Kwacha.
Dedza Young Soccer and Sure stream Academy are the other new entrants into the top flight TNM Super league from Central region and Southern region respectively.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
