South African model applauds Malawi’s rich African fashion

As fashion enthusiasts in Malawi start to experience four days of fashion through the Malawi Fashion Week 2013; Malawi fashion culture has been described as amazing and rich in African culture.

South African superstar model Neetasha Singh, who is in the country for the Malawi Fashion Week 2013 (MFW) slated for May 31 to June 3, has said the warm heart of Africa has unique talent with an extraordinary foresight into the fashion market.

“I say Malawi has a pure raw talent and alive with possibilities. Malawian designers showcase the true African culture, fabrics and designs. All their inspiration comes from their beautiful heritage. They are proud of their culture and it shows clearly in their masterpieces,” said Singh.

Singh, an international acclaimed model who has modeled in almost 28 countries said she has come for the MFW to embrace Africa and has brought a South African spirit and a movement of uniting any race, colour and creed.

Her participation she says not only unites Malawi and South Africa but is also aimed at working together as a continent and creating opportunity through diversity.

Subsequently, Singh hailed the MFW concept, its organisers and the models whom she described as born stars, black diamonds, gorgeous and truly passionate about fashion, for the efforts they have put in to uplift uplifting the fashion culture of Malawi.

“They have worked hard for many months to market and liberate the concept. 13000 followers on Facebook is positive feedback showing that Malawi is claiming its place in the industry.

“The MFW team has sacrificed a great deal and I am sure they will have their hearts desires met after the successful completion of MFW,” said Singh who is also an actress starring in movies Bombay Duck and the popular Tokolosh.

Singh who also hosts model boot camps in the South Africa, Wednesday hosted a model boot camp at French Corner in Lilongwe which was open to all aspiring models.

The boot camp included model training on ramp, photography, industry standards and etiquette amongst others.

Neetasha Singh has featured in International magazines such as Model View, Vogue India, Deb India and Lipstick Red.

Malawi Fashion Week 2013 is being organised by Elegant Resources by Arianalouise owned by Dawa Loga-Lemberger in partnership with African Dzuwa owned by Chikumbutso Mtumodzi.
